SEO and Internal navigation of web-site

When a user visits a website after searching through a search engine they would like to see a site that is well organized and navigable. The user must be able to find the information they are looking for without any difficulty.

Generally all web surfers are very impatient. They will not give you more than a fraction of seconds to impress them. They will not wait on your website to understand any complex navigation options. Users also do not like pages that takes long to load. Use of flash and java script increases the loading time of your page.

Search engine crawler while reading your site looks for keywords, comes to your site, it crawls through the site, looking at keywords, links, HTML tags, etc. These crawlers moves form one page to the other by using your internal links. But it they visit your page and are not able to go any deeper then its is not a seo friendly web site. If there are any broken links, crawlers remembers these information and while indexing your page it stores these info in the data base. These errors will harm search engine rankings of a website.

A website must be thoroughly navigable. There can be two types of link for a web site. One are internal links that helps users to move within a website and other are external links that are placed on other websites. A webmaster must use both types of links for better ranking.

Use of navigation pane in the top, left or righ hand side bars are good navigation techniques. To have a text-based navigation bar is good. It allows the webmasters to use anchor tags for internal linking which is given very good weight age by google. It allows search engine crawlers to move form one page to other with ease.

The text based links that creates links shall have keywords. This is a very good way of gaining good site ranking. The search engine crawler when visits these keyword based links, and finds that the landing page is actually keyword related, such pages are given good rankings. If the landing pages (its text/contents) are relevant to the keyword of the links (anchor texts) it talks very good about your site
